This stone was named after a Russian mineralogist Pavel Vladimirovich Eremeev. When his surname was translated from the Russian language to English it ended up as ‘Jeremejev’.
This mineral was discovered in 1883 in Siberia. Although it is rare, it has since been found in several places in Africa, Asia and South America.
